Earlier this month, Virgin Atlantic flew 60 tonnes of urgent
medical supplies to Iraq. The Boeing 747 was the first
non-military aircraft to land in Basra since 1990.
Durbin PLC supplied much of the life-saving medical equipment
and pharmaceuticals, including oxygen masks, crutches, wheelchairs
and a range of cancer drugs.
Sir Richard
Branson commented, “We are extremely grateful
to all the pharmaceutical companies and medical aid organisations
who worked around the clock and supplied over £2m of
drugs and much needed hospital equipment free of charge.
We couldn’t have done it without them!”
